From: Joachim Parsch on 17 May 2010 08:32 Hello, KP Boateng's blood tackle was not hard enough to break Ballack's leg, but it was still "good" enough to take Ballack out of the WC: <http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/17052010/58/world-cup-2010-injured-ballack-world-cup.html> For the benefit of all children reading this, I won't say, what I think of KP Boateng. KPB, will be there with Ghana, I now suggest a spiteful match between Germany and Ghana!!!

I doubt it will come to that? Adler out, Rolfes out now Ballack, all would of been starters. I have to say it, I am not a big fan of Ballack's and I dont think he will be missed? In fact this is good news for Germany actually winning the World Cup now! I associate ballack with always finishing second? If anything it forces Loew to use younger players which will be good for the national team in 2014 and 2018 . I do feel sorry for Ballack, since this was probably his last chance to win anything with Germany and missing out on a World cup weeks before it starts too. I was reading that the game was pretty dirty and that the Ref was letting a lot go? Of course the player who fouled him is the Ghanaian German so that make it even more interesting? So without Ballack the midfield has Schweisteiger (with Scweinie now playing the Ballack role) Oezil if he is not playing forward, but he will be the attacking mid, then you have two from Trochowski, Marin, Kroos or possibly Podolski playing wide middle and Khedira as the defensive midfielder? I would not bring Frings back in the team, though it may happen? Always have Borowski as well???? So who becomes the new captain? Klose, except he may not be a starter? Has to be Mertesaker, Lahm or Schweinsteiger. Without wanting to sound too crass about Ballack's predicament, I think this may have a positive effect on the team? It is a young team especially now with the oldest player out, but a lot of these players have experience at big games in a World cup or European cup or Champions league finals for that matter ( or will have soon) so I am not sure the "lack of experience" will be a problem? I mean how may Argentine ( Argentina is my pick to win) players have played in a World cup final or semi final for that matter?

Disgusting. The German media are trying their best not to mention Boateng, but make sure nevertheless that everyone knows who is at fault. I think it was a bad tackle, but it is certainly undeserving of the attention that is now being paid to it. In a way, this is good for Germany, because now other players can step up (and there will be others) without Ballack taking all the attention. IMHO, Ballack is overrated in the national team and has more often than not been a burden rather than a helpful figure on the pitch. Case in point: Euro 2008. |
