Nah, it happened for Italy before. Argentina can't miss a WC as the
league like qualification gives a lot of time to make up for blunders.

They each did miss once. Argentina in 1970, Italy in 1958. Only
Germany and Brazil have managed to qualify every time.

That's really very true... although a lot of people regard Holland as a
big team. I'm not sure of that though, which is why I asked Sven.

There was this statement in Germany that they've not beaten a big team
since they won the 1996 Euro (for a while they had not beaten a European
team in a tournament since that final... that was broken in 2006). I
wanted to know the list of teams people have in mind.

(Technically the ARG match in 2006 was a draw as was the Italy one)

I only started watching the World Cup in 1990. Since then (and it may
not be saying much), the 2006 side has been the best Argentine team
I've seen.
