Napoli signed Fabio Quagliarella last summer, so he fell in the pecking order when opting for a lone striker, and he is not a prolific scorer so that doesn't favour him in any way. As for Di Maria, he has a reported 35 million pound release clause, and has the ADDED pressure of being Argentina's next superstar, as backed by Maradone!!!

What's the lineage of "next Maradona's"? MARADONA-->Balbo-->Ortega-->Aimar-->Veron-->Saviola-->Riquelme-- >Aguero-->Messi.....? Time in between seems to be getting shorter and shorter. Interestingly as far as I can recall, Tevez has not had the "next maradona" pressure.

Veron was highly touted never but never mentioned in that regard. D'Alessandro was, big time. |
