A open request to FIFA - Increase world cup teams to 48

From: Raja, The Great on 30 Jun 2010 17:44 Eight groups of 6 each. They will all face other in a round robin format just like now. So 15 matches per group. Total group matches - 120, 8 second round matches, 4 quarters, 2 semis, one 3-4th place play off and final = 136 matches. World cup should go on for 2 months!!! One month ain't enough for us. Asia/Oceania = 8 teams (this gives countries like China/India a chance, which means MUCH more audience) Africa = 8 teams (more variety of African teams) S. America = 6 teams (they deserve one spot more with 2010 performance) N. America = 6 teams (Canada might make it) Europe = 20 teams (this means countries like Sweden, Romania, Hungary, Russia, Austria get a chance)

From: Insane Ranter on 1 Jul 2010 01:27 Techically the world cup goes on for a few years. The quals is techically the world cup. This part in S. Africa is the finals.

I also like how it was in 1982 where only the semifinals on had any chance of penalties deciding the matches. There are only about 6 or 7 good teams in the world. 24 is more than enough for a world cup. |
