Can't quarrel with these. It's not Liverpool-centric (#4 deserves to
be here), and shows a good temporal distribution across the decade.

Not necessarily outranking these, but also big:

-Abramovich purchase of Chelsea making them instant world power

-Italy "drawing" their way to a World Cup championship

-Unprecedented internationalization of rosters

Not Liverpool-centric, but I do think it's very Europe-centric. But I
couldn't think of any events outside the continent that should make
the list, probably due to my own ignorance. But for the sake of
another status check:

Asia - Nothing notable, apart from Australia joining the AFC. Just the
usual suspects qualifying for the WC and making little noise.

Africa - The Egypt-Algeria craziness could be considered, but mostly
for non-footballing reasons. Africa hosting the WC is huge, and 2010
is technically still this decade, but in most people's perceptions
(and in general acceptance) the decade ended yesterday.

North America - Nothing really, just US, Mexico, and some banana
republics. Oh and Canada. So nothing really. (sorry MH :-))

South America - Cant think of anything, but I'm sure our South
American contingent will disagree.

Yes, that is notable. A giant was born out of nothing.

Happened before (1994), no biggie IMO.

That will change in Europe once the new rule takes effect.

Top 10? Nothing from the two WC's even. A handball not in a final <>
top 100 IMO

No. IMO, of course. Replace with EPL's rise to prominence
and the fall of the Serie A.
