But that same Man Utd were comprehensively outplayed in Rome in the first leg. Then there was Newcastle losing 4-1 at home to Inter also in this decade.

Though that did lead to the biggest result of the decade in Manchester United beating and ending Arsenal's 49 match run. it was enormous, think of how different thing might be if that result was reversed!!!

If they win this year's WCup, now that will be something. My own (probably very personal) take: 9 - 11 Zidane, Ronaldinho and Messi (I'm not sure they qualify as events but the way they played at their best I'll definitely remember) 8 Zidane headbutt 2006 7 Liverpool UCL win 2005 6 Chelsea - Barcelona 2009 5 Porto UCL win 2004 4 Brazil WCup winners 2002 (nothing extraordinary but still, a WCup win is something notable) 3 Spain and Italy cheated out of the WCup in 2002 2 Calciopoli 1 Italy's tainted WCup win in 2006

What part of rise to prominence of A and fall of B equates to A has won more than B ? Couldn't it be A has improved while B has gone in the reverse direction ? Don't the UEFA numbers, tallied over the years, point to that fact? Is it not a undisputed state of affairs now that the EPL is the top league, while the Serie A is in serious danger of losing its 4th CL place? Did this not happen over the course of the decade? If you are going to call names, back it up with something more solid. For the more reasonable, here is an interesting article - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/aug/21/serie-a-year-zero-season-preview
