Two points here:
1) Mentiong Real is La Liga-centric, not EPL-centric, so so much for
your accusation. (nice try on changing the subject)
2) Have you followed football long? Are you not aware that never has a
club spent such ungodly amounts in such a short period of time? In a
little over two months they spent a quarter of a BILLION Euros (€68m +
€94m + €15m + €35m + €4m + €35m = €251m).
It's unprecedented, dwarfing even the first Galacticos outlay and the
first two years of Abramovich at Chelsea. It is certianly noteworthy,
wake up.

Sorry, but the combination of multiple group stages + direct knockout +
relatively short season invalidates the Atletico Mineiro and Botafogo
"achievements". In a full league format, I'm pretty sure Perugia's
achievement is unique.

Exactly. They've done it before. That they spent more than in the past
was hardly unexpected.

Noteworthy yes, one of the TEN most noteworthy events of the decade?
More noteworthy than the Glazers' takeover of Man United, than
Abramovich, the measures against financial doping, Germany 1-5 England
etc, etc? Don't be ridiculous.

You're so EPL-centric.

Benfica did it one year earlier and other teams have done it
afterwards.
